American Missionary Pilot Kevin Rideout Released After Nine Months in Captivity in Niger

American missionary pilot Kevin Rideout has been released after more than nine months in captivity in Niger. Rideout, who works with SIM International, was abducted by armed men outside his home in Niamey in October 2025. He was reportedly moved to the Tillaberi region, where militant groups have carried out frequent attacks. SIM International said he is in good health and is receiving support from United States officials. The circumstances of his release and the identity of his captors have not been disclosed. Rideout had served in Niger for almost two decades, supporting humanitarian and missionary operations across West Africa. He is expected to reunite with his family, who have requested privacy.
