Farmer Gives Birth in Captivity After Mass Abduction in Niger State

A woman abducted with other farmers in Niger State has reportedly given birth while being held by bandits. The farmers were taken while harvesting groundnuts in the Tugan-Rimi and Mukura areas of Mariga Local Government Area. The council chairman said 47 people were abducted, mostly women, while police confirmed that more than 20 people were taken. The abductors are reportedly demanding ₦94 million, or ₦2 million for each victim. Security operatives and vigilantes have launched rescue efforts, with one vigilante reportedly injured during an earlier encounter with the armed group.
