Court Dismisses Suit Seeking to Block Ubani’s FCT High Court Judgeship Consideration
The Federal High Court in Abuja has dismissed a suit seeking to stop the FCT Judicial Service Committee and the National Judicial Council from considering Chukwuemeka Tony Ubani for appointment as an FCT High Court judge. Justice Inyang Ekwo struck out the case on October 29, 2026, after Bizplus Consulting Services Ltd filed a notice to discontinue the matter. Counsel for the defendants had asked the court to dismiss the suit with costs. Bizplus had alleged that issues arising from an attempt to enforce a judgment debt against the Benue State Government should be investigated before Ubani’s appointment process continued. Ubani challenged the company’s legal standing, arguing that it had no sufficient interest to interfere with the judicial selection process. The defendants in the suit were Ubani, the FCT Judicial Service Committee, the National Judicial Council and the Attorney-General of the Federation.
