Residents of Okerewe Ward 3 in Ife East LGA, Osun State, were filmed riding motorcycles alongside a vehicle conveying election materials to a collation centre during the 15 August governorship election. They reportedly became concerned after noticing the driver receiving repeated phone calls. The residents followed the vehicle to monitor the movement of the materials and ensure they arrived at the collation centre without interference. The election was a closely watched contest between Governor Ademola Adeleke of the Accord Party and APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji. INEC later declared Adeleke the winner. The video has sparked praise online for citizen participation in protecting the electoral process.
