Bandits Demand ₦30 Million Ransom for Six Abducted Zamfara Imams
Bandits who abducted six Islamic clerics in Bakura Local Government Area of Zamfara State have reportedly demanded ₦30 million for their release. The clerics were ambushed last Saturday on the Dakko-Damri feeder road while travelling to Talata Mafara. Eight people were initially taken, including five imams, a driver and two farmers. The driver has since been released after his family reportedly paid ₦2 million. Residents say the remaining clerics are elderly and fear their health may deteriorate in captivity. A source said a serving Zamfara senator has pledged to support efforts to secure their release, while families have appealed to security agencies and the government to act quickly.
