Joy Mangano is an American inventor and entrepreneur best known for creating the self-wringing Miracle Mop. She built her early business around practical household products and later became a familiar face on television shopping networks. After graduating from Pace University, Mangano worked several jobs while raising her three children. Her breakthrough came when she developed the Miracle Mop, which was designed to be wrung out without users having to touch the wet mop head. A successful television demonstration helped her sell thousands of units in minutes. Mangano founded Ingenious Designs, which was acquired by USA Networks in 1999. She has since launched CleanBoss, a non-toxic cleaning-products company. Her life inspired the 2015 film "Joy" and a later stage musical. She was married to Tony Miranne from 1978 until their divorce in 1989, and they have three children.
