Security Forces Clear Suspected Criminal Hideouts in Kogi Forests
The Kogi State Police Command has launched a joint forest-clearance operation targeting suspected criminal hideouts around Kabba/Bunu, Obajana and Lokoja. Police officers, soldiers, local vigilantes and other security personnel swept through the Daji 2 Forest Zone on Wednesday, August 20. The operation followed a directive from the Commissioner of Police, Naziru Kankarofi. The team cleared an abandoned settlement and searched Amos Camp, both believed to have been used as criminal staging areas. Officers reported signs of recent movement towards the Oyo Forest axis of Obajana, suggesting suspects fled before the operation reached the area. The command said the operation has encouraged farmers and residents to return to their daily activities. Patrols, intelligence gathering and further clearance operations will continue in identified locations.
