Enugu Arrest Reportedly Exposes Forest-Based Kidnapping Network
Human rights lawyer Ifeanyi Ejiofor has commended security operatives over the reported arrest of an alleged kidnapping-network commander in the Garki axis of Enugu State. In a statement, Ejiofor said the arrest and reported recovery of firearms should prompt sustained, intelligence-led operations against criminal groups using forest corridors as hideouts. He urged security agencies and the Enugu State Government to prevent forests from becoming safe havens for kidnappers. He also cautioned against blaming any ethnicity or religion for crimes, stressing that law-abiding citizens must not be profiled. The allegations about the network and its activities should be independently verified by the relevant security authorities.
