Taiwanese Man Jailed After Using Robot Vacuum to Record Wife’s Affair
A Taiwanese man has been sentenced to five months in prison after using a robot vacuum cleaner’s camera to record his wife and another man inside their holiday home. The man reportedly became suspicious after finding an unfamiliar toothbrush and reviewing parking-garage footage. Months later, he remotely activated the vacuum cleaner and found footage that he used in a compensation case against his wife and her lover. The court awarded him NT$500,000 in compensation after finding that the relationship exceeded friendship. However, his wife filed a counter-suit over the recording. The court ruled that marital concerns did not override their privacy rights and also ordered the man to pay a NT$150,000 fine.
