Armed Raiders Storm Kaduna Churches on Easter Sunday, Seven Dead and Several Abducted

Gunmen attacked First ECWA Church and St. Augustine Catholic Church in the Ariko community of Kachia LGA, Kaduna State. The assault took place in the early hours of Easter Sunday, leaving at least seven worshippers dead and several others taken hostage. Mark Bawa, councillor for Awon Ward, told a national news outlet he is heading to the scene to confirm casualty figures. Reports vary between seven and eight fatalities. Residents say poor network coverage delayed any security response. The attackers operated freely for a prolonged period, highlighting the vulnerability of rural communities in Southern Kaduna. This incident echoes a similar February raid in Kurmin Wali, where scores of worshippers were abducted. Local leaders are renewing calls for stronger security during religious gatherings and festive periods.
