Trump Approves Firing Squad Execution for Fort Hood Shooter Nidal Hasan
US President Donald Trump has approved execution by Army firing squad for Nidal Hasan, the former military psychiatrist convicted of the 2009 mass shooting at Fort Hood, Texas. Hasan was sentenced to death by a military jury in 2013 after 13 people were killed and more than two dozen others were wounded. The Pentagon said the Army Secretary will determine the time and location of the execution. If carried out, it would be the first execution conducted by the US military since 1961. Hasan was shot and partially paralysed by a responding police officer during the attack.
