Moscow Hit by Almost 200 Drones in Ukraine’s Largest Strike Yet
Moscow faced its biggest drone assault since the full-scale invasion began, with nearly 200 Ukrainian drones targeting sites around the capital. Thick columns of smoke rose after an oil depot in Rostov region was struck, killing one person, and a southeast Moscow shopping centre caught fire when debris fell on its roof. Governor Andrei Vorobyov said 17 people were wounded in the Moscow region. Russia’s defence ministry reported that about 1,000 drones and four cruise missiles were intercepted and destroyed across the country in 24 hours. President Zelensky described the raid as “long-range sanctions” in response to last week’s attack on Kyiv’s religious landmark. He warned that if Ukraine “burns, your Moscow will burn too,” while urging diplomacy to end the conflict. Analysts say the scale of this barrage highlights Ukraine’s growing reach and raises fresh doubts about the effectiveness of air defences around Moscow’s critical infrastructure. Russia also launched more than 200 drones and multiple ballistic missiles at Ukraine overnight.
