Bayelsa Imposes 24-Hour Curfew in Biseni After Violent Unrest
Bayelsa State Governor Douye Diri has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Biseni community in Yenagoa Local Government Area following a breakdown of law and order. Authorities said armed youths and protesters blocked entry routes, lit bonfires and disrupted traffic, trade and transport activities in the area. Security personnel have been deployed to clear the roads and restore calm. Residents have been urged to comply with the restriction as markets, commercial activity and public transport services remain suspended pending a further security review. Anyone who violates the curfew or fuels further violence may face prosecution.
