Tinubu Mobilises IGP Disu for Tech-Driven Rescue of Oyo Abducted Teachers and Pupils
President Bola Tinubu has directed the Inspector General of Police, Tunji Disu, to lead a tech-enabled operation to free staff, teachers and pupils kidnapped last Friday from three schools in Esiele community, Oriire LGA, Oyo State. An assistant head teacher and a commercial motorcyclist were killed in the attack. Tinubu condemned the mass abduction and assured Nigerians that security agencies are working round the clock to secure the release of all 46 victims. He praised the swift response of police tactical and intelligence teams in Oyo and neighbouring Kwara State and called on the National Assembly to fast-track the law establishing state police. The Christian Association of Nigeria in Oyo State has declared Wednesday a day of prayer and fasting for the safe return of the vice principal, teachers and pupils. CAN also urged authorities to boost security in vulnerable rural areas, prosecute the perpetrators and enforce school safety protocols.
