Three Injured in Ilesa Political Rally Shooting as Osun Commissioner Is Detained

Three people were injured after suspected gunmen opened fire near a political procession in Ilesa, Osun State, ahead of the governorship election. Police said the suspects arrived in a vehicle and fired shots in the area. The injured victims were taken to hospital and are said to be responding to treatment. The Osun Commissioner for Environment, Mayowa Anjorin, and an Amotekun operative, Odeyemi Abimbola, were taken into custody for questioning. Police recovered spent cartridges and an Amotekun cap, and said a pump-action firearm was found in a vehicle linked to the incident. The police said allegations against all named individuals remain under investigation and urged political actors and residents to avoid actions or unverified claims that could worsen tension.
