Jigawa Drug Trafficker Jailed Three Years for Stabbing NDLEA Officer
A Federal High Court in Dutse, Jigawa State, has sentenced Hassan Ismail to three years’ imprisonment with hard labour for stabbing an NDLEA officer during a sting operation in Auramo, Ringim LGA. The NDLEA said Ismail attacked the officer with a knife while attempting to evade arrest. Officers reportedly subdued and arrested him despite the injury sustained by their colleague. The court also convicted five other drug offenders arrested in different parts of Jigawa. They received jail terms ranging from one to two years for offences involving cannabis and tramadol, with no option of fine where ordered. The seized drugs were forfeited to the Federal Government. The NDLEA said it would continue operations against drug trafficking and urged residents to provide useful intelligence.
