Osun APC Warns Adeleke Against Using LGCs as Collateral for ₦300bn Loan

Osun APC Warns Adeleke Against Using LGCs as Collateral for ₦300bn Loan

The Osun State APC has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration of planning to secure a ₦300 billion loan from Unity Bank using the state’s 30 local government councils as collateral. The party’s chairman, Tajudeen Lawal, said the move would be unlawful and violate local government autonomy affirmed by the Supreme Court. According to Lawal, a meeting was held at the State Secretariat in Abere with PDP-elected council chairmen and senior officials to discuss borrowing ₦10 billion against each council. He warned Unity Bank to reconsider any deal that uses councils as security and argued that only councils reinstated by the Court of Appeal can lawfully act. Separately, the Accord Party in Osun urged APC governorship candidate Bola Oyebamiji to explain his management of a $20 million World Bank primary healthcare grant under former Governor Adegboyega Oyetola. Accord’s state chairman, Pastor Victor Akande, wants clarity on procurement board decisions and compliance with public procurement laws.
