ACTDA Managing Director Ossy Onuko visited ACCIONA Group’s headquarters in Madrid, Spain, as Awka continues work on the African Development Bank-backed African Cities Programme. During the visit, Onuko met ACCIONA engineering and urban-development experts to examine approaches to water supply, waste management, renewable waste processing, housing, roads, bridges, tourism and digital transformation. Awka is the only Nigerian city selected for the programme, which is intended to improve urban planning, strengthen institutional capacity and develop bankable infrastructure projects. The process is expected to produce a City Action Plan for sustainable growth in the Anambra State capital.
