Cossy Orjiakor: Controversy, Nollywood Fame and Life Beyond the Headlines

Cossy Orjiakor: Controversy, Nollywood Fame and Life Beyond the Headlines — 1 of 3
1 / 3

Cossy Orjiakor became one of Nollywood’s most talked-about personalities in the early 2000s. Her appearance in Obesere’s “Apple Juice” video brought her widespread attention at a time when provocative celebrity content was rare in Nigeria. Her career was later overshadowed by a disputed scene from the anti-human-trafficking film “Itohan.” Tabloid reports treated the scripted scene as real, leading to damaging rumours and intense public stigma that she has had to address for years. Beyond the controversies, Orjiakor studied Accounting and Management, explored music, produced the film “Power Girls,” and built a strong social-media presence. She also made headlines over her brief 2020 engagement and, more recently, flooding at her Lagos home and her recovery from ankle surgery.
