Enugu Businesses Lament Losses as Erratic Power Supply Drives Up Generator Costs
Business owners in Enugu State say unreliable electricity supply is increasing their operating costs and causing losses, especially for businesses that depend heavily on power. A welder at New Market said the cost of fueling a large generator leaves little or no profit, forcing him to work only when public electricity is available. A pub operator also said weak supply cannot keep refrigerators running, leading to losses from spoiled perishable goods. Residents have also complained about estimated bills and disconnections despite the poor supply. They are calling on MainPower Electricity Distribution Limited to improve service and make prepaid meters more available.
