Ghana Hunter Mistakes Woman for Animal and Fatally Shoots Her
A 48-year-old woman was accidentally shot and killed by a hunter in Okanease, Oti Region of Ghana. The hunter said he spotted what he thought were animal eyes reflecting from a silver pan during a predawn expedition and opened fire. He accompanied authorities to the police station and is now in custody as investigations continue. The woman had gone to harvest mangoes near a known hunting path. Her body is at the regional hospital morgue awaiting autopsy.
