Why Nigerian Online Stores Get Visitors but Struggle to Make Sales
Many Nigerian online stores attract visitors through Instagram, Facebook, Google, WhatsApp and paid ads, yet receive very few completed orders. The problem is often not traffic alone, but what customers experience after they arrive. Trust is a major factor. Shoppers may leave when a store has poor product photos, unclear contact details, no visible address or a website that appears abandoned. A difficult mobile checkout, unclear prices and limited payment options can also push buyers away. Delivery concerns matter too. Customers want to know the delivery fee, estimated arrival time, locations covered and return policy before paying. Product pages should clearly explain what buyers will receive, available sizes or options, and whether an item is genuine. Sometimes the store is reaching the wrong audience, while other visitors may simply need time before they are ready to buy. Follow-ups through remarketing, email or WhatsApp can help. What do you think is the biggest reason Nigerian customers abandon an online purchase?
