Public trust is one of the strongest tools any police force has. Communities may then rely on family networks, private security or informal settlements. While these can help with minor disputes, serious crimes still require proper investigations, protected witnesses and evidence-based justice. Distrust also fuels rumours and social-media trials, where people can be judged before facts are established. Rebuilding confidence requires accountability for misconduct, credible complaint channels, better training and welfare for officers, and respect for citizens' rights. Security and justice must work together. Without public cooperation, policing becomes weaker and criminals can exploit the gap.
