Michael Jackson Estate Wins Ruling to Move Abuse Lawsuit to Private Arbitration

Michael Jackson Estate Wins Ruling to Move Abuse Lawsuit to Private Arbitration

Michael Jackson's estate has secured a court ruling that sends a lawsuit filed by the Cascio siblings to private arbitration rather than a public jury trial. Edward, Dominic, Marie-Nicole and Aldo Cascio allege that the late singer sexually abused them over more than a decade while they were children. They also claim people around Jackson helped conceal the alleged abuse. Jackson's estate denies the allegations. A federal judge in California ruled that a 2019 settlement agreement between the parties, which reportedly included an arbitration clause, is enforceable. The siblings' lawyer said the family was disappointed that the dispute would be heard privately instead of in open court. The case will now proceed before an arbitrator, who will consider the siblings' challenge to the agreement and their allegations against the estate.
