Should Governments Fund Mass Weddings Without Jobs and Family Support Plans?
I believe government-backed mass weddings should not be treated as a solution to poverty. Any programme that supports marriage should also prioritise education, skills training, jobs, family planning and support for young couples. Reports of alleged bridge vandalism involving 27 scavengers in Lagos are deeply worrying. Infrastructure theft damages public property, puts lives at risk and must be investigated and prosecuted fairly, regardless of where suspects come from. Poverty and unemployment are serious national problems, but they should not excuse vandalism. We need policies that help people build stable families and earn lawful livelihoods, instead of allowing social problems to grow unchecked.
