Two Zamfara governorship candidates were reported absent from a peace accord signing organised by the state police command ahead of the 2027 general elections. Bilyaminu Shinkafi of the African Democratic Congress was represented at the event, while Senator Kabiru Marafa of the Nigeria Democratic Congress was also reported absent. The accord was intended to promote peaceful campaigns and discourage electoral violence. The reasons for the candidates’ absence were not immediately known, and their absence does not by itself show opposition to the agreement.
