Gunmen Attack Nwezenyi Community in Ebonyi State, Kill Three
There is growing tension in Nwezenyi Community, Igbeagu, Izzi LGA of Ebonyi State after unknown gunmen opened fire around 11pm on Sunday. The attack occurred opposite the Assembly of God Church and sent residents fleeing into their homes. By morning, neighbours recovered three bodies. Witnesses say they still cannot venture outside as fear grips the area. One resident told reporters, “We heard gunshots and hid inside. We don’t know if it was cultists or hoodlums.” When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer for Ebonyi State, Mr. Joshua Ukandu, said he was not aware of the incident. Tension remains high as the community awaits further updates. This comes two weeks after three siblings—Favour, Obinna and Kamso Okeoha—were kidnapped in the same community. Neighbours say the suspect had moved in just days before the abduction and painted her apartment with the words “One Love” to appear harmless.
