Indian Couple Allegedly Beaten by Their Sons Over Land Sold for Medical Treatment
A 65-year-old farmer and his ill wife were allegedly attacked with wooden sticks by their two sons in Pune district, India, following a dispute over land reportedly sold to fund her treatment. Police said the couple were walking in their village on August 30 when the sons allegedly confronted them, demanded that the sale be reversed and threatened them. The husband reportedly suffered injuries to his back, face, thighs and shoulder, while his wife was injured on her wrist and waist. Bystanders alerted the police, and the couple were taken to a hospital. The two sons have reportedly been booked over the alleged assault and criminal intimidation. Footage of the incident has circulated online.
