Ukraine’s Largest Overnight Drone Strike Kills Four in Russia
A massive drone assault by Ukrainian forces struck multiple Russian regions overnight, killing at least four people. Russia’s defence ministry said its air defences intercepted 556 drones, with another 30 shot down after dawn across 14 regions, Crimea, and the Black and Azov seas. In the Moscow region, a drone hit a private home and killed a woman, while two men died in separate strikes. Officials reported four wounded and damage to residential buildings and infrastructure. Around the capital, air defences downed over 80 drones, injuring 12 people, and wounding construction workers near an oil and gas refinery. In Russia’s Belgorod border region, a man was killed when a drone struck a lorry. Ukraine’s defence ministry claimed it intercepted 279 out of 287 Russian drones launched overnight. Kyiv defended the operation as justified retaliation, saying strikes now hit oil depots, refineries and microelectronics plants in the Moscow region for the first time.
