Report: Tinubu May Miss 81st UN General Assembly in New York
President Bola Tinubu is reportedly not expected to attend the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York, despite earlier indications that he would deliver Nigeria’s national statement. A source close to the Presidency said no reason was provided for the reported change. The high-level General Debate is scheduled for September 22 to 28, and Tinubu had been listed to speak on September 23. Nigeria’s UN representative had previously said Tinubu would use the gathering to discuss government reforms, regional border security and international cooperation. The Presidency has yet to announce who will represent Nigeria, though Vice President Kashim Shettima represented the President at the two previous sessions.
