Residents Demand Urgent Repairs on Flooded Iwofe–Epirikom Road in Port Harcourt
Motorists, residents, students and business owners along the Iwofe–Epirikom corridor in Obio-Akpor, Port Harcourt, are calling for urgent intervention as flooding, potholes and poor drainage continue to make the road difficult to use. The route serves busy residential and commercial communities, as well as people travelling around the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education area. Road users say the damaged sections cause traffic delays, vehicle repairs and safety risks, especially during heavy rainfall. Residents are asking the Rivers State Ministry of Works and Infrastructure to confirm whether the road is included in current maintenance plans. They want a proper engineering assessment, improved drainage and lasting rehabilitation rather than temporary repairs. With major allocations proposed for works and infrastructure in the state budget, residents say the Iwofe–Epirikom Road should receive urgent attention before it becomes completely impassable.
