Baami: How a ₦30,000 Loan for My Ex-Girlfriend Grew Into ₦300,000 Debt

Content creator Baami has shared how a ₦30,000 loan he took to support a former girlfriend grew into more than ₦300,000 after he missed the short repayment deadline. He said the debt spiral left him financially and emotionally overwhelmed for almost a year, forcing him to delay his HND education. Baami also spoke about losing his father as a teenager, experiencing neglect and discrimination, and dealing with hurtful comments about his appearance. He said those difficult experiences strengthened his determination to succeed. He began creating content in 2024 after encouragement from his manager and has since worked with creators including Nasboi, Oluwadolarz, Shank and Cute Abiola. He said live-streaming and social-media content helped him earn income, with his first major TikTok payout reaching about ₦500,000. Reflecting on his journey, Baami said he remains hopeful about marriage, future collaborations and becoming a globally recognised creator.
