Dangote Refinery Stops Petrol Sales to Fuel-Importing Marketers
Dangote Petroleum Refinery has stopped selling petrol to major marketers that also import petroleum products into Nigeria. The refinery reportedly objects to its Euro-5 petrol being blended with lower-quality imported fuel. It says such blending could make it difficult to distinguish its products from fuel handled by third parties. The refinery is now said to be prioritising sales to independent marketers and other buyers not involved in fuel importation. Some affected marketers have reportedly sought a court order to compel the downstream regulator to keep issuing import licences, fearing they could be left without supply options.
