Nigerian Man Arrested in Thailand Over Alleged 10.21kg Heroin Haul
Thai police have arrested a 48-year-old Nigerian man after allegedly finding about 10.21kg of heroin concealed in soap boxes and plastic-wrapped packages in a vehicle. Police said he was stopped on 1 October at the Ratchada-Tha Phra junction in Bangkok while driving a Toyota Avanza. A search of the vehicle reportedly uncovered a suitcase filled with soap boxes containing foil-wrapped heroin packages, as well as 70 additional packages in a carrier bag. He is being investigated for allegedly possessing and selling a Category 1 narcotic for commercial purposes. Police also alleged that he entered Thailand unlawfully after reportedly finding no passport during their checks. The suspect and the seized drugs, phones, suitcase and vehicle have been handed over to investigators as authorities continue probing a suspected transnational drug-trafficking network.
