Remembering Engr. Funsho Williams: Lagos’s Unsolved Political Murder
Engineer Anthony Olufunsho Williams spent 17 years helping to build Lagos’s roads before entering politics. He won the AD’s 1998 gubernatorial primary but stepped aside amid an alleged agreement with Bola Tinubu. Feeling betrayed, he joined the PDP in 2001 to contest again. On July 27, 2006, Williams was found strangled in his Dolphin Estate home in Ikoyi. His hands were tied and he lay face down in a pool of blood. High-profile arrests followed, but all six suspects were acquitted by 2014. Nearly 20 years on, no one has been convicted and the full truth remains unknown.
