Customs Hands Five Trucks Carrying Suspected Diverted Diesel to NMDPRA
The Nigeria Customs Service has handed five tanker trucks carrying suspected diverted diesel to the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority for investigation. Operation Whirlwind said the trucks were intercepted in Maiduguri on July 6 after intelligence reports. Preliminary checks on the diesel, also known as Automotive Gas Oil, indicated possible regulatory breaches. Customs transferred the vehicles to the NMDPRA on October 23 for further investigation and possible administrative action. The agency says it is intensifying operations against the diversion and smuggling of petroleum products.
