APGA Wins All 21 Chairmanship Seats in Anambra LG Elections

APGA has won all 21 chairmanship positions and all 326 councillorship seats in Anambra State’s August 29 local government elections. The Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission said APGA ran unopposed in 20 LGAs under a “Yes or No” voting arrangement. In Anambra East, APGA polled 50,169 votes, while the Young Progressives Party received 1,658 votes. The commission described the poll as peaceful, free and credible. However, the YPP alleged that its agents and members were prevented from monitoring voting in Anambra East and accused security operatives of intimidation.
