My Two Trusted Staff Members Are Dating and It Is Affecting Work
Two of my most trusted staff members are in a relationship. One is my secretary and PA, while the other is an ad hoc worker who returns during university holidays. They both have access to important company information, including banking passwords. I do not object to their relationship, but their public displays of affection in the office have become a concern. I have noticed distractions, reduced productivity and behaviour that other staff members can easily observe. I have spoken to the lady twice, but the situation does not appear to be improving. My bigger worry is protecting the business and maintaining professional boundaries. I also do not want to handle the matter badly because the male staff member has worked with me for longer and is connected to my landlord. What is the best professional way to address this without creating unnecessary conflict?
