Sowunmi Says Obi and Obidients Could Hinder an Igbo Presidency
Segun Sowunmi, convener of The Alternative, says Peter Obi and his Obidient supporters are the biggest obstacles to the South-East producing Nigeria’s next president. Speaking on a podcast about the 2027 election, Sowunmi argued that political power in Nigeria must be negotiated across ethnic and regional lines. He said the South-East needs stronger alliances with other southern regions, the Middle Belt and the North. According to him, broader cooperation and less political hostility are necessary for any Igbo presidential aspiration to succeed.
