Bomb Threats Target at Least 25 Flights Across Europe
At least 25 passenger flights across Europe have faced bomb threats, prompting emergency landings, diversions, fighter jet escorts and security inspections. The latest incidents occurred on Thursday, November 5, following another wave of alerts earlier in the week. A report by CBC said flights in several countries were affected, including France, Spain, Italy, Poland and Romania. An Aer Lingus flight from Dublin to Rome landed safely at a French military airbase, where specialists inspected the aircraft. Ryanair flights travelling to Bulgaria were also targeted, and Italian fighter jets escorted a Finnair flight after a bomb alert. Wizz Air, LOT Polish Airlines and Aegean Airlines flights were among others affected. No explosives had been found on the aircraft examined so far. European officials have previously accused Russia of involvement in alleged sabotage operations, but the EU says it is too early to determine whether the latest threats are connected or who was responsible. Russia and Iran have denied involvement in similar alleged operations.
