Nigerian Refineries Receive 127 Million Barrels of Crude in Nine Months, NUPRC Says
Nigerian refineries received more than 127 million barrels of crude oil and condensate between January and September 2026, according to the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission. The commission said improved engagement with oil producers and refinery operators helped raise deliveries after supply disagreements affected the first quarter. It reported supplies of 53.7 million barrels in the second quarter and 45.1 million barrels in the third quarter. The NUPRC is also consulting stakeholders on a domestic crude swap framework that could allow refineries to source crude from closer terminals. The agency estimates this could cut transport costs by $3 to $4 per barrel. Nigeria’s crude oil and condensate output averaged 1.717 million barrels per day in September, while the commission said it would continue efforts to boost local refining, gas supply and oil-sector investment.
