Troops Kill ISWAP Commanders, Two Arab Fighters in Borno Operation
Troops of Operation Hadin Kai say they killed four ISWAP leaders, including two high-ranking Arab fighters, during an operation in Kukawa Local Government Area of Borno State on October 31, 2026. The military said the operation followed an ISWAP attack on troops’ positions. Ground forces and air assets were deployed against the insurgents. Those killed reportedly included Abu Hajara, described as a member of ISWAP’s Shura Council, and Abul Walid, a commander said to be close to the group’s leader, Ba Shuwa. Several other fighters were also killed. The military said troops recovered weapons, ammunition and communication devices after the operation. It added that the engagement came days after another operation in Buni Yadi in which several insurgents were reportedly killed.
