Shock in Onitsha: Pastor Arrested for Alleged Wife-Snatching, 11 Babies Recovered — 1 of 3
1 / 3

The Anambra State Government says Pastor Harrison Charles Anazodo of Day Spring Assembly in Awada, Onitsha, is in custody over accusations of snatching married women and forcing congregants to swap wives. His arrest on June 12 followed viral videos showing a woman accusing him of marrying up to 75 women, taking other men’s wives and even marrying underage girls using charms. Officials also recovered 11 infants from his home. The pastor claims they are his children from 11 different wives but cannot confirm the total number of his marriages or offspring. The police and state government are now investigating the allegations. Anyone with relevant information is urged to contact the governor’s office on community security.

What could explain how the pastor allegedly convinced congregants to swap wives before anyone alerted authorities?

Do we know what explanations he offered congregants to justify swapping their partners?

It's surprising that viral videos were the catalyst for this arrest rather than church elders or family members taking action earlier.

I'm not convinced every detail is accurate until we see more official statements or even some court documents.

Anyone who suspects similar abuse should document evidence discreetly and report it to the police or a trusted rights organisation immediately.
