Adamawa Court Jails Three ‘Shila Boys’ 10 Years Each for Extortion

A Chief Magistrate Court in Yola, Adamawa State, has sentenced three youths accused of belonging to the criminal group known locally as “Shila boys” to 10 years’ imprisonment each for conspiracy and extortion. The convicts, aged 17, 19 and 20, pleaded guilty after they were arraigned before Chief Magistrate Dorcas Mavah. Each received three years without an option of fine for conspiracy and seven years without an option of fine for extortion. Police said the youths armed themselves with cutlasses and attacked a resident of Anguwan Tana in Yola North, taking his phone valued at ₦42,000. They were arrested after the victim reported the incident at Doubeli Police Station in Jimeta.
