A Broken Promise Cost Me a Major Supply Contract
I produce household sanitary products such as liquid soap, disinfectant and air fresheners. I recently secured a supply contract with a reputable company, but they offered no mobilisation payment because it was our first deal. I needed to raise the full capital before the deadline. A hotel CEO who was one of my customers offered to fund the contract in exchange for a post-dated cheque with 10% added. As the deadline approached, he repeatedly assured me that the money was coming. On the agreed day, he asked for my account details and promised to transfer the funds. Nothing came. The next day, he told me to meet him at his office, but he never showed up or answered my calls. I lost the contract and the chance to become a major distributor. It was devastating, and I became suicidal at the time. Thinking about my children kept me going. My plea is simple: if you cannot keep a promise, please do not give someone false hope.
