Certified True Copy of High Court Order Voids NDC Registration

Certified True Copy of High Court Order Voids NDC Registration

A certified true copy of a Federal High Court judgment has surfaced. It sets aside last December’s order that directed INEC to register the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). Justice Isa H. Dashen found the earlier decision invalid because it affected the Peace Movement Party’s rights. The PMP claimed ownership of the NDC logo but was not joined in the original suit. INEC says it will remove the NDC from its list of recognised parties once it reviews the certified document. The commission has applied for the copy before making any official comment. The NDC, whose presidential candidate Peter Obi and running mate Rabiu Kwankwaso are preparing for the 2027 elections, says it was also denied portal access to upload its candidates. The party plans to seek a stay of execution in court.

How do you think setting aside the December order will impact NDC's political strategy and the broader electoral process in Nigeria?

Spot on! It'll shake NDC's gameplan and get everyone chattering about how fair our election process really is.

This judgment raises questions about the judiciary's consistency on party registrations and its influence over INEC directives.

I'm not convinced this will significantly alter the political landscape; last-minute court reversals seem more symbolic than substantive.

Stakeholders should review party documentation thoroughly and prepare for legal appeals before final INEC certification to avoid surprises like this.
