Kaduna Man Jailed for Stealing Girlfriend’s ₦860,000 Jewellery

A Kaduna Magistrates’ Court has sentenced 32-year-old Kenneth James to 18 months’ imprisonment for stealing jewellery valued at ₦860,000 from his girlfriend. James pleaded guilty to the one-count charge. The court gave him an option of a ₦50,000 fine and ordered him to refund the value of the stolen gold earrings and necklace to the complainant. The magistrate ruled that he would serve an additional 10 months in prison if he fails to make the refund. Prosecutors said James stole the items while his girlfriend was away on a trip and later confessed to selling them.
