Six Reported Dead After Student Hostel Collapses in Delhi, Dozens Feared Trapped
At least six people have reportedly died and five others are in critical condition after a student hostel collapsed in Delhi’s Satya Niketan area. Authorities fear that about 40 people, mostly students, may still be trapped beneath the rubble. Delhi Fire Service deployed at least 12 crews after receiving the alert on Sunday afternoon. Rescue agencies, police and civil-defence teams are searching the site, while a neighbouring building has been evacuated as a precaution. A former resident said the hostel had been in poor condition, with cracked walls and frequent flooding in the basement. Officials say the number of people inside when the building collapsed has not yet been confirmed.
