Afghanistan Promises Response After Pakistani Air Strikes Kill Four

Afghanistan’s Taliban government says Pakistani air strikes killed at least four people and hit locations in Kandahar, Paktia and Khost provinces. A resident of Kandahar reported hearing a jet, followed by a major explosion and fire in the city. Pakistan said it struck 10 sites it claims were used to store and launch drones involved in cross-border attacks. Islamabad described the operation as limited to military targets linked to attempted attacks inside Pakistan. Kabul denied launching drones into Pakistan and rejected claims that it shelters armed groups targeting its neighbour. The strikes come as tensions rise following recent deadly attacks and clashes along the border, threatening mediation efforts by several countries.
