Zenith Tops Nigerian Banks’ 2025 Profits With Record ₦1.04 Trillion PAT
Zenith Bank led Nigerian lenders in 2025 profit after tax, becoming the first bank to cross the ₦1 trillion mark. Its ₦1.04 trillion profit was about ₦174 billion higher than GTCO’s and roughly ₦297 billion above Access Holdings’ result. Zenith, GTCO and Access together posted ₦2.65 trillion, accounting for about 62% of profits among the 10 conventional banks compared. The 12 banks in the broader comparison recorded a combined ₦4.3 trillion profit after tax. OPay returned to profit, reporting $72.47 million after a $50.98 million loss in 2024, as revenue rose 161% to $536.25 million. Wema Bank posted ₦194.4 billion, while First HoldCo’s 2025 profit was weighed down by major bad-loan provisions before rebounding to ₦526.1 billion in the first half of 2026.
